This Park Lane Coupe is a survivor of the medium luxury division. It was made in January 1964 and was originally shipped to a sales district. This example was a one-owner car until the 1990s, when it was passed to a friend. The third and previous owners bought the car in 2005 with 25,329 miles on the clock. After the passing of the previous owner, the car returned in September 2023.
Finished in Onyx, this car's paint is mostly original, although the front clip has been reshot at some point. The car was always garaged under the previous three owners. The paint and trim are in very good order, the bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is tidy, and the chrome bumpers fit tightly to the body.
As the highest-priced, premium trim, this car was fitted with the option of a “breezeway” retractable rear window, a feature first used on earlier models. For 1964, the retractable rear window was installed in hardtop sedans with a reverse-slant configuration.
The car has had the following parts replaced: new tires (2008), fuel pump (2007), headers (2009), exhaust system work (2009), carburetor (2011), battery (2021), taillight lens (2021), and air cleaner (2021). Original valve covers and miscellaneous parts come with the purchase.
This car rolls on Firestone white stripe radial tires, size 215/75R14 at all four corners. Each one is mounted to a steel wheel topped with full-size factory wheel covers. The wheels and tires are in very good condition.
Under the counterbalanced hood is a 390 CID V-8 engine with 300 horsepower and 427 lbs-feet of torque, 11:1 compression, and dual exhausts. Backing this engine is a three-speed automatic transmission with a 3.00:1 final drive. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning.
Inside, the car features a Medium Silver Blue and Light Silver Blue Diamond Luster cloth and vinyl interior. The front and rear bench seats, carpet, and headliner are all in near-excellent condition. The three-spoke steering wheel is in very good order, as are the instrument panel and inner door panels. A column-mounted shifter and a factory AM radio complete the interior. Even the interior courtesy lights still work!
For the 1964 model year, the Park Lane made its return as the top model, with trim differentiating it from other models.
Extras include a custom-fit car cover, and documentation includes a folder of miscellaneous service receipts.
